A little more about me:
I specialize in working with toddlers through preteens and their families. As the owner of KMG Play Therapy, LLC providing individual play-based services for children and families who have experienced trauma, attachment concerns, anger issues, school related challenges, social-emotional concerns and behavioral or conduct issues.
I am a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Criminal Justice/Criminology and a Master’s of Science in Social Welfare from the University of Kansas. My professional experiences include individual therapy with children and families, work as a school-based therapist providing individual counseling for at-risk HeadStart preschools and Elementary schools, teacher coaching and training in trauma-informed care and working with families to learn positive parenting skills and family therapy skills. I have experience within the school systems, providing case consultation, training and individual short-term therapy, as well as crisis counseling.
I enjoy tailoring the therapeutic experience to each individual child and family I work with, pulling from a variety of play-based techniques including Play Therapy techniques, Theraplay® techniques, Child Centered Play Therapy, Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, Filial Therapy Techniques, Sandtray Therapy techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC) principles.
Outside of the office I find myself on the sidelines of sporting events of my three children, enjoying walks with my husband and dog, or reading a good book.
